Decolonizing Our Language Workshop

  • Onedoorland StewDios 6050 Southeast 120th Avenue Portland, OR, 97266 United States (map)

Using our words with deep awareness and intention can transform our world.

Our reality is made of sound, woven from the words we use to describe it. Language is a tool that has the power to enslave or liberate us, depending on how we wield it.

This workshop will focus on building a language of healing and interconnectedness through writing exercises, discussions, embodiment practices, and ritual to unpack colonization, separation, and slavery and explore what we may create on the other side.

This space will strive for safety and inclusion as we explore potentially intense themes such as racism & supremacy, privilege, sexism, commodification, and intergenerational trauma, in an atmosphere designed to provoke understanding and inspire healing.

Growth lives at the edge of your comfort zone, we embrace that here. Come as you are. Decolonizing Our Language is for all of us striving to transform internalized and collective oppression, those who live within the structures created by the stigmatization of biased language as well as those who wish to be better allies.
